Combating dangerous ecological change is a fight, fought from several aspects. Our thoughts on climate change have a direct affect on the environmental problems occurring today. Many people don’t consider the psychological aspect of correcting environmental problems. Our behaviors produce events such as exposure to toxic chemicals, global warming and depletion of the ozone layer. CFCs in particular provide an insight into the way psychology was used to enforce change. These ways include educating the public on the dangers of the contaminant. Although the government banned the use of CFCs, the public became aware of the dangers associated with this contaminant and showed an interest in reducing its exposure in the environment. Educating the public on contaminants, their affects on the environment, and what can be done to reduce exposure such as the case with CFCs, provides a future for the Earth that doesn’t involve certain ecological disaster.
